Forming Enhanced Supply Partnerships In Plastics

In-house expertise has enabled BPD Manufacturing to bring to market what is believed to be the most comprehensive range of forming options available in the UK from one single source.

At its 7-acre site in the Midlands, the company has developed capabilities which mean it can vacuum- or blow-form sheet into complex shapes through three planes up to 3.5m x 1.6m, as thin as 0.3mm, with a draw of up to 1.4m, to tolerance of ±0.25mm. Forming is offered for a range of plastic sheet materials, including virgin and recycled HIPS, ABS, rigid PVC, PP, HDPE, CPS, CHD, GRP, styrene, acrylic, Kydex and polycarbonate.

Further, the facility is available even for 'one-offs', and enhanced by an in-house testing laboratory and post-production services incorporating 3 and 5 axis trimming, punching, ultrasonic welding, surface treatment and assembly, delivering a finished component for the customer.

"To our knowledge, no other British former can produce such diversity of size, for any run quantity," says James McGee, BPD Manufacturing sales manager. "We have 25 years' experience working with customers to design, tool and then produce new parts and products; we harness that expertise to adapt technology to meet the demands of modern production engineering. All elements of the process are available in-house, giving us complete control, and the customer added quality assurance."

The claims are reinforced by BPD Manufacturing's credentials, having ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001. Its client list includes leaders in their sectors Glidevale, Passivent, Total Hygiene/ Clos-o-Mat, Honda, Balfour Beatty, Lear Corporation, Alton Towers and Tesco.

Adds James, "In the current economic climate, it is more important than ever for customers to know they can order what they want, when they want, to the quality they want, and within agreed cost parameters. Because we handle every element of the process in house, our customers know what we promise, we deliver, without compromise.
