FEBRUARY 09 - ENHANCED OPTIONS FOR LAMINATION, PRINTING, SLITTING AND REWINDING



Greater flexibility for lamination, printing, slitting and rewinding of roll material is now attainable from one single source, following investment and installation of new technology.

BPD Ltd- a UK independent laminator, printer, slitter and rewinder of woven and non-woven polypropylene, paper and other polymer-based roll substrates- has added another new 3m wide rewinding and slitting machine plus a new 1.6m wide lamination facility at its Merthyr Tydfil, S Wales, plant. The new equipment complements the existing 3m wide two-colour printing line with full width print heads, and 3m and 2m wide rewinding/slitting capabilities, providing optimum flexibility in lamination, printing and rewinding.

BPD believes its high speed equipment’s capability to accommodate and process roll material up to 3m wide is a rarity within the UK. Warren Mockler, BPD International Business Development Manager, says, “To our knowledge, we are the only British company to now provide such a range of services for processing of flexible substrates through one centre.

“The new equipment enables us to further improve service to customers, giving them greater flexibility over printing, slitting and rewinding of their materials. The high speed hot melt lamination equipment is capable of assembling multi layers in one pass with full ‘plc’ integration, including edge guidance and tension control. The hot melt lamination process enables a diverse range of substrates to be assembled, from foils to paper, textiles to nonwovens.”

The service includes high quality flexographic printing in one or two colours, conversion into finished rolls and labelling, packaging and palletisation to exact customer requirements in the construction, bedding, furniture, agriculture/horticulture, geotextiles, hygiene and packaging industries.
